Our Fabrics

About our production process

It is rare for brands to truly reveal the behind-the-scenes of their production process. Even when a brand adopts an ecological and ethical approach, it is essential to keep in mind that the process remains industrial. And with industry comes demanding working conditions, including noise, machinery, and a mechanized pace.

Each fabric has its advantages and disadvantages, both environmentally and socially. The production of every garment requires significant human and environmental resources.

This is why we want to share with you the specifics of the materials that make up our fabrics. We prioritize natural materials, often blended with a very small amount of elastane, to ensure optimal durability for our garments while staying true to our values.

We remain realistic about the reality of textile production. We sincerely believe that our garments come from one of the most respectful and high-quality mechanized textile productions. Thanks to our small-scale operations, we can trace every step of the manufacturing process: from weaving to knitting, dyeing, and even the final assembly of the garments. Tracing is straightforward, as we work with two fabric manufacturers and two production sites that cut and assemble the garments.

Our primary partner is located in Portugal, offering close proximity, while our secondary partner in Turkey is equally high-quality but located farther away and operates on a slightly larger scale. Both of our main partners are family-owned businesses committed to ensuring good working conditions in their villages and communities.

We have personally visited all the sites involved in the production process, both in Portugal and Turkey, covering knitting, dyeing, and sewing. The only stage that still escapes our direct control is the sourcing of raw materials, as organic cotton and bamboo come from various channels. However, we are confident that these raw materials come from ecological and/or organic productions with monitored and controlled working conditions. Additionally, all our raw materials are rigorously verified by independent certification bodies, ensuring their compliance with our environmental and ethical standards.

Brushed Organic Cotton Jersey 220 g/m² - Made in Portugal

This fabric is our flagship material: a high-quality jersey that offers a soft, peach-skin feel. It is comfortable, warm, and designed to stand the test of time. Made of 92% organic cotton and 8% elastane, it combines durability and comfort.

The brushing process, carried out during the fabric's production, ensures it remains soft even after many washes. This fabric is what established our brand’s reputation and continues to delight our customers.

This fabric is rare in conventional retail due to the many challenges it presents. The brushing process, which removes a portion of the cotton, makes it difficult to achieve a consistent finish, especially given the natural variations in cotton quality. Furthermore, its sensitivity to dyes means that results can vary depending on the coloring process.

Despite these challenges, we value this fabric's uniqueness and are proud of its exceptional quality, which far exceeds what is typically available in mass-market products. The effort is absolutely worth it, and we are thrilled to offer you such a premium fabric.

You’ll find this fabric featured in our Evergreen Collection.

Bamboo blended with organic cotton in various proportions.

For our Evolve Collection, we’ve selected a blend of organic cotton and bamboo fiber. Bamboo viscose is a natural material made from bamboo through a controlled chemical process. Bamboo requires very little water for cultivation, which makes it a more resource-efficient crop compared to other fibers.

The bamboo used in our garments is sourced from forests that are managed responsibly. The process of turning bamboo into viscose is carefully controlled, focusing on efficiency and minimizing waste.

This collection, made with Turisk organic cotton and bamboo, is produced in Turkey, where we work with local partners who share our commitment to quality and responsible manufacturing.

We use bamboo in our garments for its fluidity, durability, and softness, which complements the cotton blends for added comfort and longevity. The Mizar kimono is made entirely from bamboo, while other pieces feature varying blends of bamboo and cotton. We choose bamboo for its balance of environmental impact and material performance, ensuring that our pieces are built to last while being mindful of the resources they require.
