Born from a shared vision of creating high-quality, ethical yoga clothing that supports both movement and mindfulness, Breath of Fire is more than a brand — it’s a family story built on love, creativity, and conscious living.
We are a close-knit team of women who believe that beauty, comfort, and ethics belong together. Every piece we create reflects this belief — designed in Switzerland, crafted in Europe, and made to support you on and beyond the yoga mat.
Cornelia Kauhs
Founder& designer
The visionary behind Breath of Fire, Cornelia created a yoga clothing line that embodies purity, function, and feminine strength.
Her eye for timeless design and her devotion to natural fabrics continue to shape every Breath of Fire piece.
Maya Rochat
Visual Artist & Muse
Maya, Cornelia’s daughter, is an acclaimed visual artist and photographer.
Her bold and poetic vision infuses Breath of Fire with color and soul — she is the creator of our Magic Earth print and Breath of Fire yoga mat, both celebrating nature’s transformative energy.
Pernelle Rochat
CEO & Creative Director
Pernelle, Maya’s sister, leads the brand with precision and heart.
She oversees client communication, design, production, and partnerships, ensuring every garment reflects our family’s ethics and high standards.
Deeply involved in the process, she visits production sites regularly, maintains close relationships and ensures full ethical integrity.
Beyond her leadership, she also guides sound and consciousness workshops for the Monroe Insitute, weaving awareness and creativity through all she does.
Our story in time
2005 – Founding Vision
Breath of Fire was founded by Cornelia Kauhs to offer elegant, comfortable, and ecological yoga clothing.
Her first collection was self-funded and produced in India, sold at yoga festivals and in her classes — a labor of love and conviction.
2009 – Local & Sustainable
Cornelia moved production to Portugal, partnering with small family-run ateliers known for their craftsmanship and integrity.
This shift marked the beginning of our ongoing commitment to local, ethical, and traceable production.
Since then, we have personally visited our workshops many times, walking through the spaces where our garments are made.
We know our fabrics, our partners, and the people behind the machines — how they work, how they live, and what care goes into every detail.
From knitting and dyeing to cutting and sewing, we follow every step of the process, ensuring fair working conditions and sustainable practices.

2015 – New Chapter
Breath of Fire became an LLC, and Pernelle Rochat — Cornelia’s daughter — took over the management.
The brand expanded across Switzerland and Europe, bringing its mindful philosophy to yoga studios, boutiques, and conscious living events.
2019 – Expansion & Resilience
We opened The Yoga Boutique in Lausanne, a space dedicated to yoga, ethical fashion, and somatic awareness.
During this time, our design language evolved toward intuitive cuts that support the body’s natural intelligence.
2024 – Transition
Our stock and office moved to the art studio of Maya Rochat in Cully, blending the worlds of art and conscious fashion.
The Yoga Boutique was passed on to Nicole Steffen, marking a beautiful transition — and the birth of a new generation, with Pernelle’s son joining the family.
2025 & Beyond – Rooted Growth
Today, Breath of Fire evolves through refined capsule collections — timeless, sustainable, and functional clothing that nurtures movement, balance, and ethical living.
We continue to grow in partnership with aligned European communities who share our values of beauty, awareness, and care.
